How to manage cash drawer settings in Grafterr POS

A step-by-step guide to managing cash drawer settings in Grafterr POS

Updated over a month ago

Cash drawer settings in Grafterr POS allow you to control exactly when the cash drawer should open during a transaction, helping you maintain better cash handling discipline and avoid unnecessary drawer openings. These settings are especially useful when managing different payment methods such as cash and card.

Managing cash drawer settings in Grafterr POS:

In order to manage cash drawer settings in Grafterr POS, follow the below steps:

  1. Open the Grafterr POS application and log in with your credentials. Once you are logged in, you will land on the home page of the application. Scroll down to locate the “App settings” module and tap on “POS settings.”

***Please note that the POS settings available here apply only to the current POS device you are using and will not affect other devices linked to your account. If you want the same configuration across multiple devices, you will need to update the POS settings individually on each device.

  2. Within the POS settings section, scroll down to find “Cash drawer settings.” This section allows you to define how and when the cash drawer should open for cash transactions and card transactions, separately.

  3. For both cash and card payments, Grafterr POS provides three different opening conditions.

    • The first option is “Pay,” which means the cash drawer will open immediately when the staff member taps the Pay button to complete the payment.

    • The second option is “Finish,” where the cash drawer opens only after the payment process is completed and the Finish button is tapped.

    • The third option is “Don’t open,” which prevents the cash drawer from opening at all for that particular payment type. This option is commonly used for card transactions, where opening the cash drawer is usually unnecessary.

  4. Once you have selected your preferred opening conditions for both cash and card transactions, navigate back to the home screen. The application will automatically refresh, and the updated cash drawer settings will start applying immediately.

  5. To ensure everything is working as expected, you can place a test order and complete a transaction. Based on your selected configuration, clicking on Pay or Finish will trigger the cash drawer to open accordingly.

That’s it! You have successfully learned how to manage and control cash drawer behavior in Grafterr POS. If you face any issues along the way, feel free to reach out to our support team.
