Safe deposits are a safety measure that allows businesses to manage the cash kept in the cash drawer.
In simple terms, whenever the cash in the drawer reaches a certain limit, the till system will alert the operator to move some of the cash to a safe location and record the transaction.
This prevents having too much cash lying in the till, reducing risks and ensuring proper accounting.
Setting up safe deposits in the Admin Panel:
Before using safe deposits in the Operator application, you first need to configure the settings in the Admin Panel. In order to do that, follow the steps below:
Log in to your Grafterr Admin Panel. Once logged in, scroll down and select “Advanced Settings”. Under Advanced Settings, click on “Default Settings”.
A list of multiple options will appear on this page. Look for the option called “Maximum cash amount in till”. Enter the cash limit for your drawer. For example, if you set it as 100, the system will alert the operator whenever the till amount reaches or exceeds this limit.
Next, scroll further down the same settings page and find the “Safe drop alert" option. Toggle this “On”.
By enabling this, whenever the till balance reaches the maximum limit, a pop-up alert will appear on the till machine reminding the operator to perform a safe drop.
Performing safe deposits in the Operator application:
Once the Admin Panel setup is done, operators can perform safe deposits directly from the Operator application in 4 simple steps:
Open the Grafterr Operator Application and on the main screen, locate the option called “Safe Deposit” on the left central.
Clicking this will open the safe deposit option, where the total amount currently available in the till will be displayed.
To make a safe deposit, enter the amount you wish to deposit and the “Drop ID” (this can be used to label the deposit).
After entering the details, click on ”Submit”. If the deposit is successful, a confirmation message will appear on the screen.
In most cases, operators will be reminded automatically when the cash in the drawer crosses the set limit with a pop-up message “Excess cash in the till. Please make a safe drop”. At that point, they should perform a safe deposit immediately and record it in the system using the above steps.
That’s it! You have successfully learned how to manage safe deposits through both the Grafterr Admin Panel and the Operator application. If you face any issues along the way, feel free to reach out to our support team.
