A category is a way of grouping similar menu items together to make your menu more organized and user-friendly. For example, within your menu, you can create categories such as Starters, Main Course, Desserts, or Beverages.
Adding a menu category:
In order to add a menu category through the Grafterr Admin Panel, follow the steps below:
Start by logging in to your Grafterr Admin Panel through the Grafterr website using your credentials. Once logged in, navigate to the left-hand menu, scroll down to the “Menu Management” module, and click on “Menu Configuration.”
Once you open the menu configuration section, you will be able to view all existing menus, categories, items, prices, actions, and deals configured in the system.
To create a new category, click on “+ Add Category” located at the top right corner of the screen. For a quick setup, simply enter the category name and click on “Add.”
If you want to configure additional settings, click on “Advanced” beside the add option. This will open the advanced category setup page. Within the advanced settings, you can configure the following details:
Category name
Menu type under which the category belongs
Display order number
Product code (if applicable)
Upload an image for the category
Next, you will find two important sections: Print Destination and Category Availability.
Under Print Destination, you can configure:
Course type – Helps define whether the category belongs to starters, mains, desserts, etc., assisting with order flow and kitchen preparation.
Print order number – Controls the sequence in which items from this category appear or print on kitchen receipts.
Kitchen assignment – Assigns the category to a specific kitchen for order routing.
Please note that if a menu already has a kitchen assigned, all categories created under that menu will automatically inherit the same kitchen unless manually changed.
Under Category Availability, you can configure when the category should be available:
Make the category available on all days or set specific availability periods using start date, end date, start time, and end time
You will also find a toggle to instantly enable or disable the category whenever required.
Once all the required details are configured, click on “Add Category.” The newly created menu category will now be visible in the menu configuration section.
