How to add a menu item

A step-by-step guide to adding a menu item through the Grafterr Admin Panel

A menu item is an individual product or dish that customers can order from your menu. Each menu item contains important information such as pricing, descriptions, modifiers, tax settings, kitchen routing, and availability.

Adding a menu item:

In order to add a menu item through the Grafterr Admin Panel, follow the steps below:

  1. Start by logging in to your Grafterr Admin Panel through the Grafterr website using your credentials. Once logged in, navigate to the left-hand menu, scroll down to the “Menu Management” module, and click on “Menu Configuration.”

  2. Once you open the menu configuration section, you will be able to view all existing menus, categories, items, prices, actions, and deals configured in the system.

  3. To create a new item, click on “+ Add a New Item” under the required category. You can choose under which menu and category you want the item to be created. You can also edit or delete previously created items from the same section.

  4. For a quick setup, simply enter the item name and price, then click on “+ Add.” If you want to configure additional settings, click on “Advanced.”

  5. Once you are on the item creation page, start by entering the following details:

    • Item name

    • Menu and category under which the item belongs

    • Short name and Product code (if applicable)

    • Upload item image

  6. You will also find the option for a "Query meal question". This allows businesses to display promotional or upselling questions when customers select the item. For example: “Would you like to try our latest Sunday meal combo with this burger at 50% OFF?”

  7. After entering the basic details, you will find the following sections:

    • Pricing

    • Modifiers

    • Item details

    • Item availability

    • Print destination

    • Tax settings

    • Others

  8. Under Pricing, you can configure either single pricing or multi pricing.

    1. Single pricing – Enter a single selling price for the item. You can also optionally enter the cost price.

    2. Multi pricing – Create size-based pricing such as Small, Medium, Large, etc. Enter the size name and corresponding price. Use “Add More” to create additional sizes.

  9. You can also configure pricing based on Global Size. Global sizes are predefined sizes created from the "Menu Management" section under "Actions". Once created, these sizes can be selected while creating items.

  10. Under the Modifiers section, enter a Modifier group name and click on the “+” icon to select required modifiers or modifier groups.

  11. Once selected, click on “Add All” to associate the modifiers with the item.

You can then define:

  • Minimum modifier selection limit

  • Maximum modifier selection limit

  • Included modifiers within item pricing

If additional modifier groups are required, click on “Add a New Modifier Group.”

Item details:

Under Item Details, you can configure:

  • Allergen information

  • Item description

  • Ingredients

  • Calorie information

This helps customers make informed ordering decisions.

Item availability:

Under Item Availability, you can:

  • Set the item status as Active or Inactive

  • Choose where the item should be visible (POS, Website, Mobile App, Contactless Ordering, etc.)

  • Configure availability for all days or specific days/timings

  • Set service-wise pricing if required

Service-wise pricing allows businesses to configure different prices for different service types.

Print destination:

Under Print Destination, you can select:

  • Course type

  • Kitchen assignment

If these settings are already configured at the menu or category level, the same settings will automatically apply unless manually changed.

Tax settings:

Under Tax Settings, choose whether the item is:

  • Taxable

  • Zero Tax

If taxable, select the appropriate tax from the available tax list.

Others:

Under the Others section, you can:

  • Enter the item number

  • Enable a consent message toggle

If enabled, customers will see a custom message before ordering the item.

Once all the required details are entered, click on “Add Item.”

The item will now be successfully created and visible across all applications after refreshing them.
