How to set up and manage the first order discount promo code for your customers

A step-by-step guide to setting up and managing the first order discount promo code through the Grafterr Admin Panel

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The First Order Discount is designed to encourage customers to register and place their orders directly through your branded website or mobile application, rather than through third-party delivery platforms. This helps businesses build their own customer base and increase direct sales.

  • When a new customer registers on your website or mobile app, the system can automatically reflect a promo code that they can use for discounts on their initial orders.

  • This promotional strategy helps attract new customers, encourage first-time purchases, and increase repeat engagement during the first few orders after registration.

Setting up and managing your first order discount promo code:

In order to create and manage your first order discount promo code through the Grafterr Admin Panel, follow the steps below:

  1. Start by logging in to your Grafterr Admin Panel through the Grafterr website using your credentials. Once logged in, look at the navigation menu on the left side of the screen.

  2. Scroll down until you locate the module called “Marketing and Engagement.” Under this section, click on the sub-module “Marketing Suite.”

  3. Inside the marketing suite, you will see several options related to marketing integrations and promotional tools. Locate the option “New customers online promo code” and click on “Integrate” beside it to proceed.

  4. The new customer promo code screen will open. This page allows you to create new promotional codes as well as view and manage any existing promotions that may have been created earlier.

  5. To create a new promotion, click on the “Create a new promo code” button. Once you click this button, a pop-up window will appear where you can enter all the details required to configure the promotion.

  6. Begin by entering the "Promo code name". This is the code that customers will type while placing their order to redeem the discount. For example, you may create a promo code such as MARCH10.

  7. Next, enter the "Number of orders usage", which defines how many times a registered customer can use this promo code for their orders, provided the set conditions are met. For instance, if you enter 5, the customer will be able to use the promo code on their first five orders.

  8. In the "Offer schedule" section, specify the start date and end date of the promotion. Customers must register on the website or mobile application within this period to receive the promo code. For example, you may schedule the promotion from 05/03/2026 to 31/03/2026.

  9. The "Promo code validity" field defines how long the customer can use the promo code after registering. For example, if you set the validity to 7 days, the customer must use the promo code within seven days from the date of registration. After this period, the promo code will automatically expire for that customer.

  10. Next, choose the "Type of discount" that will be applied. You can select either:

    • Amount discount (£) – A fixed discount value applied to the order.

    • Percentage discount (%) – A percentage reduction on the total order value.

For example, you may choose a 10% discount for the promotion.

  11. Then, enter the "Minimum order amount", which is the minimum order value required for the promo code to be applied. For example, if the minimum order value is £15, the discount will only apply to orders above this amount.

  12. The "Promo code available for" section allows you to decide where the promo code can be used. You can enable it for website orders, mobile app orders, and QR orders by selecting the relevant checkboxes. In many cases, businesses enable all three options to maximize promotion reach.

  13. Finally, under "Apply promo code to", you can choose whether the promotion should apply to "All items" or "Specific items" only.

    • If you select specific items, a search bar will appear where you can select particular menus, categories, or individual items.

    • For this example, selecting all items will allow the discount to be applied to any eligible order.

  14. Once all the required details are entered and selected, click on the “Create the promo code” button to finalize the promotion.

  15. After the promo code is successfully created, the new customer promo code screen will refresh and display the newly created promotion under existing promotions.

    • In this section, you will be able to see data such as how many times the promotion has been used and the number of unique users who have redeemed the promo code etc.

    • These numbers may differ because a single customer might be eligible to use the promo code multiple times during the validity period.

If you need to make any changes to the promotion later, you can use the "Edit" option to modify the settings. If the promotion is no longer required, you can remove it using the "Delete" option as well.

That’s it. You have successfully learned how to set up and manage a first order discount promo code for your customers using the Grafterr Admin Panel. If you face any issues along the way, feel free to reach out to our support team.
