How to add an item modifier (Grafterr POS)

A step-by-step guide to adding an item modifier in Grafterr POS

Updated over a month ago

A modifier is an add-on option that can be applied to a menu item. It helps in personalising customers' orders as per their preferences. For example, if the menu item is pizza, the modifiers could be extra cheese, no onion, or add mushrooms.

Adding an item modifier through the Grafterr POS application:

In order to add an item modifier through the Grafterr POS application, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Grafterr POS application and log in with your credentials. Once you are logged in, you will land on the home page of the application.

  2. Scroll down to locate the module called “Menu management”. Under this module, click on “Modifier settings”. Here, you will see a list of all your existing modifiers that have already been created.

  3. To create a new modifier, tap on the “Add a new modifier” button located at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Start by adding a name that clearly defines the modifier (e.g., Extra cheese / Onions / No ice etc). Then specify the price for the modifier.

  5. If you want to apply global pricing for the modifier, click on the “Global pricing” option below.

    1. Global pricing is used for standard size options that are widely recognised and used across the world (e.g., inches / portions etc).

***Only add modifiers through global pricing if the item they will be linked to is also created under global pricing. If the item follows regular pricing, then the modifiers should also be created under regular pricing.

  6. Next you have “Modifier details”. Click on “Descriptions & Ingredients” and you can enter:

    1. A short description of the modifier.

    2. The ingredients associated with the modifier.

    3. Whether the modifier is alcoholic or not. You can toggle ON or OFF the setting that marks whether the modifier is alcoholic or not. If turned ON, an additional field appears where you can enter the alcohol percentage of the modifier.

    4. Calorie Information associated with the modifier.

  7. Next, click on the “Allergens”. From here, select any relevant allergens if the modifier contains ingredients such as nuts, dairy, gluten, etc.

  8. Finally, configure the tax settings for the modifier. Click on “Select tax” to open the tax configuration screen. Toggle “Is this taxable” to ON if the modifier is subject to tax. Choose the applicable tax (in case of multiple taxes) from the list, and click “Submit”.

  9. Lastly, click on "Add" and the newly created modifier will now appear in your list of modifiers on the screen. And if you ever need to make any changes to an existing item modifier, you can simply click on the “Edit” option beside the modifier name to update any details.

That’s it! You have successfully learned how to add and manage item modifiers through the Grafterr POS application. If you face any issues along the way, feel free to reach out to our support team.
