Why change the IP address of the printer?
When you are connecting the printer to your POS or tablet to generate a receipt through LAN connectivity, both devices must be on the same IP network. If they are not aligned, the POS and printer cannot communicate, and receipts will fail to generate.
Generally, printers are shipped with a default IP address, so adjusting it to match your in-house network becomes necessary before using it.
Please note that while exact steps might differ slightly depending on the tool version you download, the overall method and flow remains the same. Before proceeding, ensure that,
You have a laptop or PC with good internet connectivity.
The Rongta RP410 printer is powered ON and connected to an active LAN.
The printer is connected via USB cable to your laptop or PC.
***In this guide, we’ll cover two ways to change the IP address of the Rongta label printer - using the Rongta Printer Tool and using the RTPrinter application.
Checking IP address of In-house network and printer:
In order to check the IP addresses of the In-house network and printer, follow the below steps:
To check your In-house IP address through POS or tablet, if it is connected through LAN,
Go to “Settings” → “Network and Internet Settings” → “Ethernet” and you will find the IP address listed there.
If the POS or tablet is connected via Wi-Fi,
Download and install the “Fing” application from Play store → Scan the network, and you will see the router and connected device IP addresses.
Now, to check the printer’s IP address,
If both the In-house network and printer IP address fall under the same range (for example, 192.168.0.0 and 192.168.0.78), no change is needed. However, if they fall under different ranges (such as 192.168.0.0 and 192.168.1.65), you will need to modify the printer’s IP address to match your In-house network.

To verify the modification, go to the “Test” section of the tool and select “Self Test.” A test receipt will print, displaying the new IP address.
This confirms that the IP address change was successful, and your printer is now ready to communicate with your POS or tablet.
